Luis Segundo Correas Las Acequias Cabernet Sauvignon, Argentina

This impressive 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is made by the fourth generation of Luis Segundo Correas on the “Doña Ofelia” estate, Alto Medrano, Mendoza. This red exhibits classic dark fruit notes, savory spices, and hints of toasty oak, vanilla and cocoa.  On the palate are firm tannins and a long finish.  Enjoy with hard cheeses, smoky ribs, braised pork shanks and pepper steak.

Jim Barry Cover Drive Cabernet Sauvignon, Australia

On the southern boundary of Coonawarra is the old Penola cricket ground, which was retired in 1996. The following year, Jim Barry was fortunate to purchase the 30-acre property which he then planted with Cabernet Sauvignon. Look for a silky entry on the palate with super fine, detailed tannins, ripe berried fruits, a hint of tobacco and the classic brambles of Clare Cabernet to finish.

Jasci & Marchesani Nerube Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Italy

Jasci & Marchesani are pioneers in organic and biodynamic agriculture in Italy since 1960.  This is a full-bodied red with aromas of strawberries, cherries and vanilla.  Pair with pasta and tomato sauces, mushroom risotto and semi-hard cheeses.  2018 – 96 points Luca Maroni.

Luis Segundo Correas Las Acequias Malbec, Argentina

This sumptuous Malbec is grown and made by the fourth generation of Luis Segundo Correas on the Don Angelino estate in Medrano, Mendoza. It was matured for 10 months in French oak then transferred to bottle to age for six months.  Abundant fruit notes of raspberry are complemented by spice, cedar and licorice on a backbone of sweet smooth tannins.  Enjoy with hard, aged cheeses, and rich meat dishes.

Vidigal Julia Florista Red,  Portugal

This soft, lively, easy-drinking red blend is nicely balanced with vanilla, plum, dark berry, nuts and hints of blood orange. The name pays homage to a famous Lisbon fado singer who sold flowers during the day and sang at night. Versatile in pairing with food, it works well with burgers to rare beef.

Zorzal Terroir Unico Pinot Noir, Argentina

Fermented in cement tanks with indigenous yeasts, this is a lively, aromatic Pinot Noir grown 1300 meters above sea level.  Medium-bodied and fresh, it has captivating notes of raspberries, sour cherries and roses.  And it is partly owned by a group of Calgarians!  Serve with roast chicken and bbq salmon.

Bodegas Moraza Rose, Rioja Alta, Spain

100% Tempranillo from 35 year old vines, this certified organic/biodynamic rose is dry and juicy with fresh strawberry, tart cherry, zingy acidity and herbal and mineral notes.  It is made and aged in concrete eggs which give it a clean, lightly textured mouthfeel.  Perfect with a light lunch, picnic basket fare, grilled chicken and roast veggies.

Prieler Blaufrankisch Oggau Am Neusiedlersee Johanneshohe 2019, Burgenland, Austria

Certified organic, the Blaufrankisch grape is sourced from nine different parcels in Schutzen that are dominated by limestone, mica schist and slate.  The result is a dark and juicy wine, with plum, currant and pepper that pairs well with smoked sausage, schnitzel and red cabbage dishes.

McPrice Meyers Two Tradesmen Red Wine, Paso Robles, California

This fruit-forward, powerful red blend, made from almost equal portions of Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot, along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Zinfandel, was aged 16 months in medium+ toasted barriques.  Notes of dark chocolate, prunes, earth, cherries and spice make this a good choice for bbq meats.

Savian Quota Cabernet Franc DOC, Venezia, Italy

A full-bodied, generous, well-structured, certified-organic red with notes of blackberries and thyme. As it ages, the herbaceous note develops.  This is a great match with bbq meats and mushroom risotto.
