You may or may not have shaken hands yet with a ‘New England IPA’ yet, but it is quickly becoming the hottest trend in the world of IPA. The nose will have you scratching your head wondering if you actually bought an IPA or some sort of tropical fruit milkshake. The appearance will further twist your mind, with semblance closer to a wit than an IPA we’re used to drinking. However, one sip of this tasty elixir will remind you why you fell in love with hops in the first place. A more balanced bitterness with a creamy palate while still maintaining heavy hop notes makes this a mystifying and satisfying brew. Haziness comes from the addition of high protein grains (flaked oats, wheat), as well as very aggressive dry-hopping which adds massive aroma but no bitterness. The result is an amazingly easy-drinking hop forward brew with big tropical citrus notes and huge mouthfeel on the delivery. Cannery Hop Chowda, Fernie Hit the Deck, Blindman New England IPA are all great examples of this tasty style. Read more here https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/news/new-england-ipa-haze-craze/
