From the fifth annual competition, here are some of  the winners in each category as published in the October 2017 issue of Culinaire Magazine.   The wine (exact vintage) is currently on our shelf so drop in and fill up a box of these big performers!


Villa Marie Private Bin Sauvignon Blanc 2016  $17.95

This is a classic Marlborough Sauvignon that delivers on many levels for a wine at this price. Lively, mouthwatering grapefruit acidity and midweight richness.


Chapoutier Bila Haut Rouge 2015                     $16.95

A well-structured blend of Grenache and Syrah that overdelivers in value!  A classic Rousillon wine with ripe black cherries, wild berries, earth and minerality.


Torres Celeste Crianza  2013                             $25.95

This is textbook Ribera; it has smoothness and body along with beguiling  black cherry, plum, herbs, tea and tobacco.


Giusti Antonio 2014                                           $24.95

An elegant, full-bodied blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Recantina delivers intense notes of blackcurrant and cherries, spice, vanilla and pepper. Pair with lamb or steak.  This wine is great to drink now ,but there is potential to cellar it for several years.
